I am a PhD Student in cultural anthropology at the University of Kentucky. My current research examines how mid-sized farmers in the southeastern US identify and access markets, and compares the experiences of heritage and first-generation farmers starting new farms.
In 2013, I completed my M.A. in Anthropology at the University of Kansas, where I examined the rise of gluten-free dieting and self-diagnosis of gluten-related disorders. An article based on that research, titled "But We're Not Hypochondriacs: Contested Illness and the Changing Shape of Gluten-Free Dieting" was published in the March 2014 edition of Social Science and Medicine.
